Mr. Tassin is the founder and President of CARTA ENERGY LLC, a firm that originates private equity investments in the energy field. Carta is focused in three principal areas: renewable energy opportunities; classic midstream businesses; and oilfield service companies. On a select basis, Carta also provides senior level strategic and transaction execution services to energy firms and their management teams. Mr. Tassin has over 30 years of experience in the energy industry as both an operating executive and private equity fund manager.

Prior to the formation of Carta Energy in 2007, Mr. Tassin was President and a founding partner of Energy Spectrum Capital LP from the inception of the firm in 1996 until September 2006. Energy Spectrum managed over $700 million of institutional capital in a series of four funds during that 10-year period. Through these private equity funds, Energy Spectrum invested in 24 portfolio companies in the midstream, oilfield service, and renewable sectors of the energy industry. As President, he was responsible for the overall implementation of Energy Spectrum's private equity investment program. His roles included sourcing of potential investments; leading the negotiation, structuring and execution of investment transactions; maintaining ongoing relationships with the management of portfolio companies; monitoring the investment portfolio; and advising management on strategic and financial matters. Mr. Tassin served on the board of directors of numerous Energy Spectrum portfolio companies from 1996 to 2006.

Prior to co-founding Energy Spectrum, Mr. Tassin held executive financial positions with MESA Inc. (the oil and gas firm founded by Boone Pickens), and its predecessor companies from 1980 to 1994, including serving as chief financial officer from 1988 to 1994. Throughout this period, Mr. Tassin led a wide range of investment, acquisition, financing and recapitalization transactions. These transactions included issuances of common, preferred and partnership equity interests; public and private senior and subordinated debt; bank credit facilities; joint venture and partnership structures; exchange offers; and recapitalizations. Through these transactions and numerous others, Mr. Tassin gained experience evaluating complex asset and business structures, and dealing with a broad range of operating and financial issues.
